Terms of Service

By using PDFMeld you agree to these terms. They are intentionally short and written to be readable.

The service

PDFMeld provides free online tools for working with PDF files. No account is required. The service is provided at no cost and is funded by advertising.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use this service to:

• Process documents you do not have the legal right to access or modify
• Remove password protection from a document you are not authorised to open
• Infringe copyright, or forge, falsify, or fraudulently alter documents
• Attack, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our infrastructure
• Automate bulk requests against our conversion endpoints

The Remove Password tool requires you to supply the existing password. It does not break or bypass encryption, and it must only be used on documents you are entitled to open.

No warranty

This service is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that a conversion will be perfectly accurate, that a tool will work with every possible PDF, or that the service will be available without interruption.

Always keep your original file. Do not use this service as the only copy of an important document. PDF is a complex format and unusual files can produce unexpected results.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss of data, loss of profit, or any indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of this service. Because the service is free and processes most files entirely on your own device, you retain control of and responsibility for your documents.

A note on redaction

Our Censor Text tool removes redacted content by rebuilding the affected pages, so the hidden text is genuinely deleted rather than merely covered. We have tested this specifically. Even so, for legal or regulatory disclosure where the consequences of an error are severe, you should independently verify any redacted document before releasing it. We accept no liability for information disclosed through improperly verified redaction.

Intellectual property

You retain all rights to the documents you process. We claim no ownership over your files and acquire no licence to them. The PDFMeld name, branding, and site content remain our property.

Changes and termination

We may modify or discontinue any part of the service at any time. Continued use after changes to these terms constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
